This training is designed to support volunteer in understanding the underlying causes of challenging behaviors in teens in foster care, and responding with empathy, structure, and trauma-informed strategies.
This class focuses on building strong, respectful communication with teens from diverse backgrounds. Volunteers will explore how culture, life experience, and identity can shape how teens connect with adults. The session also includes thoughtful discussion around storytelling—when sharing personal experiences can be helpful, and when it’s best to listen. The goal is to strengthen trust while keeping the focus on the teen’s needs and voice. This training invites reflection, open dialogue, and practical strategies to support meaningful connections.
