Schylar hails from Montana and currently lives in Washington, DC. He holds a master's in public administration from the University of Montana. Schylar is the Director of Human Services Impact & Innovation at FFTA - For the Good of Families, where he leads national initiatives in treatment foster care standards, kinship care, workforce development, and child welfare innovation. Previously, he served as Executive Director of Voice for Adoption in Washington, DC, where he managed complex national policy conversations and elevated the voices of children and youth in the foster care system.

Schylar is a skilled and results-driven leader with over 20 years of progressive experience in strategy, development, and nonprofit management. He has substantial experience working on child welfare, mental health, domestic safety net, and healthcare policy. A founding co-chair of the Every Child Deserves a Family Campaign, Schylar has dedicated his career to eliminating discrimination in child welfare and championing equity for all families.

Schylar serves as Board Chair of DCFYI. He brings 11 years of lived experience in foster care to the Board, grounding his leadership in the very system that DCFYI's young people navigate every day.
