Raise that (virtual) paddle and give teens community and connection!
Establishing Roots is nearing (Wednesday October 15) and that means it is time for DCFYI’s online auction!
Establishing Roots is our annual fundraiser, highlighting the impact DCFYI donors have on the lives of teens in foster care. It is also an opportunity to win some amazing auction items.
Some of the items being offered in this year’s auction include:
- A Manhattan getaway in a studio apartment a short walk from Broadway with views of the East River and the United Nations.
- Let’s Roam Scavenger hunts.
- Two tickets to the Sunday December 14 Andrea Bocelli concert in the Council Suite at the Capital One Arena.
- A one-hour Alexander Technique lesson which can help you approach movement (and sitting) with ease, efficiency, and awareness.
- A haircut, shampoo, and blow dry at a boutique Capitol Hill salon
- A vibrant spring 2026 weekend stay at a luxurious vacation home in Isle of Palms, South Carolina (a minute’s walk to the beach and a 30-minute drive to downtown Charleston!)
The auction will be online, so you can bid (and win) even if you can't join us for Establishing Roots.
Bidding will open the Sunday before the fundraiser and close the evening of October 15th.

It isn't too late to donate to the auction. All donations give DCFYI youth who are in foster care and those who have aged out of care the gift of family.
